Learning Mandarin at Central Language Academy
Some students at Central Language Academy (CLA) are already working on their third language of Mandarin Chinese. Starting with this current year, students in grades 5-8 who demonstrate full proficiency in both English and Spanish may opt for 30-150 minutes a week of Mandarin language enrichment. Read more...

When state testing began, students at Montera Elementary were motivated to do the best on their test. For their efforts, the students and Mr. Lauria, Principal, agreed that each student present and ready to put in effort on the test would receive a ticket. Marvelous Turn Out for Mariposa’s Family Math Night
On April 26, 2012 about 300 students and parents attended our annual Family Math Night where they learned and played several math games. Our incredible teachers spent extra time planning and preparing for this great family event. A Little "TLC" for Sultana Students
Sultana Elementary School takes pride in providing differentiated instruction for all learners. Parent advisory groups have shared how they value students receiving the tools needed to be successful learners. The Learning Center (TLC) is one avenue through which this is accomplished. Buena Vista staff started STAR testing off with a bang!
PTA generously purchased “Rock the Test” shirts for all staff members to proudly wear for testing. Teachers danced to music in the morning, greeting families and encouraging students to do their best on the test. Stickers were given to students as they entered campus to remind them that we believe in them and that they can do it! Buena Vista staff, students, and parents ROCK!
De Anza Promise Scholars Visit the University of La Verne
7th Grade Students at De Anza Middle School were selected for the unveiling the Ontario-Montclair School District’s Promise Scholars initiative. On March 9, over 200 students were able to visit the University of La Verne. They were lead through several small group sessions planning for their future with current ULV students, toured the campus, heard from a panel of ULV students about planning for college, special words from Superintendent Hammond, and an amazing Poetry Slam that had all the student mesmerized. Howard School Third Graders Win Big!!
Early this school year Mrs. Sharon Felton's third grade class at Howard caught the California Dairy "Real Seal Appeal" bug and busily collected 100 seals from milk cartons. The seals were sent into the contest, sponsored by Scholastic, and last month the class was notified that they had won a second prize in the drawing! Read more...

El Camino Thespian Players performed Movin in the Right Direction or AVID - The Musical at El Camino Elementary. The Thespians performed three exciting shows to a full audience. De Anza Students Participate in "WorkAbility" Field Trip
On March 13th, several De Anza students and teachers, in partnership with West End SELPA and the Workability Program, visited the Nong Shim Noodle Factory production facilities. OMSD Students Match Wits in First Annual Chess Tournament
The district’s 1st Annual OMSD Chess Tournament took place on March 31, 2012 at the Ontario-Montclair YMCA and featured students from all 32 schools in grades 4th -8th. The fierce tactical and mental competition started with a round of 64 and culminated with a championship round between Sonni Montanez from Moreno Elementary School and Joshua Favela from Serrano Middle School. Vernon Students Shine in Production of Beauty and the Beast
On March 9 and 10th, The Arts Conservatory at Vernon Middle School proudly presented their musical production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Montclair High School. Over 1,000 people filled the audience over two days to watch 30 7th and 8th graders grace the enchanted stage. The talented cast rehearsed over 200 hours after school and on Saturdays for this spectacular event. Read more...
Vineyard Competes at MESA Day at UCR
Twenty-one Vineyard Explorers participated in the University of California, Riverside MESA Day competition on Saturday, February 25th. MESA stands for Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement and the MESA Day competition allows several middle schools in the Inland Empire to compete against one another through STEM related projects.
