Video Message from Karla Wells

Welcome to the Division for Learning & Teaching webpage.  We are proud to share the work of our team as we strive to provide optimal learning experiences and opportunities for our students.  Our division is responsible for the planning, coordination, direction, assessment and evaluation of the OMSD curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs. We also provide a full range of services to meet the needs of students with disability. Please click the Pupil Personnel Services link to the right to learn more about services and programs designed to meet the needs of our students with disabilities.

To ensure that these programs focus on current research-based best practices that guarantee student success, we offer timely and effective professional development for all staff.

As part of our program offerings, we provide many opportunities for choice within the instructional program.  Our Magnet School offerings enable students to explore deeper into specific areas of interest.  These offerings include:

  • Language Immersion
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
  • Arts-integration
  • Keystone Academy (Advanced Placement Preparatory)
  • GATE
  • International Baccalaureate (early years and middle years candidate status to begin August 2011 pending Board approval)
  • AVID Elementary and Middle School

To the left of this message you are able to highlight and click the curriculum, instruction or assessment program in which you are interested in researching.  When you click on any of the selected programs, the name of the Learning and Teaching staff member responsible for the program and their contact information will be listed.  They will be happy to assist you with your questions.

Thank you for visiting the Learning & Teaching Webpage.

Karla Wells
Assistant Superintendent of Learning & Teaching
