Higher Education Initiatives

The Online to College Program and the Promise Scholars Program are a true testament of how collaboration between partners can make a positive impact for our most precious clients, the children of Ontario and Montclair.

Since 1998, the Online to College Program has made access to higher education a reality for students from Kingsley, Lehigh, and Monte Vista elementary schools.  These schools will continue to participate in this wonderful program.  Corona Elementary School students, who have been served by the Online to College Program, will now be a part of the new Promise Scholars Program.

To expand on the success of the Online to College Program, the Ontario-Montclair Promise Scholars Program is a new commitment by OMSD, Chaffey Joint Union High School District (CJUHSD), Chaffey College, California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), and California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB).  The new Promise Scholars Program renews the commitment from all partners to make higher education an aspiration and an attainable goal for EVERY OMSD student at all 32 schools.

To support these college initiatives, the Ontario-Montclair Schools Foundation is being established to fund Promise Scholars activities, scholarships, and other OMSD educational programs.

I would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to CJUHSD, Chaffey College, CSUB, CSUSB, City of Montclair, and the City of Ontario for coming together to provide a better future for all OMSD students.

Academic Stars!!

WOW, OMSD students are academic stars!  I'm so proud of the academic progress OMSD students are making.  Two hundred fifty-five District students received perfect scores in either mathematics or English language-arts.  Six students received perfect scores in BOTH!!

The auditorium at Central Language Academy was standing room only, as the OMSD Board of Trustees recognized and celebrated those students from the East Learning Region on September 1 and from the West Learning Region on September 15.

Way to go OMSD students! 

"OMSD TV" Premier

 In September, cable channel 3 (in the City of Ontario) will begin featuring a new program called "OMSD-TV." 

It is a monthly program all about our schools, staff, and students.  The September edition will include visits to two of our schools:  Corona Elementary and Monte Vista Elementary.  "OMSD-TV" will air repeatedly on channel 3 each month, and we will also archive each month's edition on our district website. 

I hope you'll make time to watch. 

Great District Partnerships

Ontario Rotary Club

The Ontario Rotary Club was founded in 1922.  The Club chartered Boy Scout Troop 301 in 1928 and is the chartering organization for Troop 301 to this day.  The Club has a long history of supporting youth. 

The current Student of the Month program for Ontario-Montclair School District eighth grade students has been in place for 10 years.  It is a fun time for Rotary members to meet these students, their school administrator, and parents.

The Ontario Rotary Club also sends junior high school students to the Rotary Teen Leadership Camp each year and high school Juniors to Rotary Youth Leadership Academy.  
  

Ontario Montclair Association of Educational Office Professionals (OM-AEOP)

The Ontario-Montclair Association of Educational Office Professionals (OM-AEOP) was established to offer growth opportunities to its members, educational scholarships to members and students, emergency financial assistance to members, support to OMSD programs and activities, and support to community organizations.

Some of the OM-AEOP service projects include providing student backpacks filled with school supplies;  furnishing OMSD families with toys, games, clothing and monetary assistance;  hosting the annual OMSD Bosses Day Luncheon;  Dictionary Program for  3rd grade students; and many more.

OMSD students, families, and employees are fortunate to have OM-AEOP as partner in education and life.

Iniciativas de educación superior de OMSD

El Programa en camino al College y el Programa promesa a estudiantes son un verdadero testamento de como la colaboración mutua entre socios puede tener un efecto positivo para nuestros más preciados clientes, los niños del Distrito Escolar de Ontario-Montclair.

Desde 1998, el Programa en camino el College ha hecho el acceso a estudios superiores una realidad para estudiantes de las Escuelas Primarias Kingsley, Lehigh, y Monte Vista.  Estas escuelas continuarán participando en este fantástico programa.  Los estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria Corona, quienes han obtenido servicios del Programa en camino al College, formarán ahora parte del nuevo Programa promesa a estudiantes.

Para expandir el éxito fabuloso del Programa en camino al College, el Programa de promesa a estudiantes del Distrito Escolar de Ontario-Montclair es un nuevo compromiso de OMSD, el Distrito Escolar Unificado Chaffey (CJUHSD), Chaffey College, Universidad Bakersfield del Estado de California, (CSUB), y la Universidad San Berrnardino del Estado de California, (CSUSB).  El nuevo Programa promesa a estudiantes renueva el compromiso de todos los socios para hacer la educación superior una aspiración y meta posible de alcanzar para CADA UNO de los estudiantes de las 32 escuelas de OMSD.

Para apoyar estas iniciativas de college, la Fundación de escuelas de Ontario-Montclair está siendo establecida para financiar actividades del Programa promesa a estudiantes, becas y otros programas educativos de OMSD.

Quiero "agradecer" sinceramente a CJUHSD, Chaffey College, CSUB, CSUSB, Ciudad de Montclair, y a la Ciudad de Ontario por el esfuerzo colectivo para proveer un mejor futuro para todos los estudiantes de OMSD.

¡Estrellas académicas de OMSD!

¡GUAU, los estudiantes de OMSD son estrellas académicas!  Estoy tan orgulloso del progreso académico que los estudiantes de OMSD están logrando.  Doscientos cincuenta y cinco estudiantes del Distrito obtuvieron calificaciones perfectas en matemáticas o en lenguaje-inglés.  ¡Seis estudiantes obtuvieron calificaciones perfectas en AMBOS exámenes!

El auditorio de Central Language Academy estuvo a cupo de estar de pie, ya que la mesa directiva de OMSD reconoció y celebró a los alumnos de la región este de aprendizaje el 1º de septiembre y de la región oeste de aprendizaje el 15 de septiembre.

"Estreno de OMSD en la televisión"

 En septiembre, el canal de cable 3 (en la Ciudad de Ontario) comenzará con un nuevo programa llamado "OMSD-TV."

Este es un programa mensual que tratará sobre todo lo concerniente a nuestras escuelas, empleados y estudiantes. La edición de septiembre incluirá visitas a dos de nuestras escuelas: Primaria Corona y Primaria Monte Vista.  "OMSD-TV" saldrá al aire repetidamente en el canal 3 cada mes, y también archivaremos la edición de cada mes en nuestra página en el Internet.

Yo espero que puedan dedicar tiempo para verIo.

Grandes sociedades del Distrito 

Club Rotary de Ontario

El Club Rotary fue fundado en 1922.  El Club "Boy Scout Troop 301" fue instituido en 1928 y es la organización para la Tropa 301 hasta hoy en día.  El Club tiene una larga historia de apoyar a la juventud. 

El programa actual del Estudiante del mes para estudiantes de octavo grado del Distrito Escolar de Ontario-Montclair ha estado funcionando por 10 años.  Esta es una ocasión agradable y divertida para los miembros del Club Rotary de conocer a estos estudiantes, su administrador escolar y a sus padres.

El Club Rotary también envía a estudiantes de escuela secundaria al Campamento de liderazgo juvenil Rotary y a los estudiantes de penúltimo año a la Academia de liderazgo juvenil Rotary.   

La oficina de la Asociación de profesionales educativos de Ontario Montclair (siglas en inglés OM-AEOP)

 La oficina de la Asociación de profesionales educativos de Ontario-Montclair (OM-AEOP) fue formada para ofrecer oportunidades de superación a sus miembros, becas educativas a miembros y estudiantes, ayuda financiera de emergencia a miembros, apoyo a programas y actividades de OMSD y apoyo a organizaciones de la comunidad.

Algunos de los proyectos de servicios de OM-AEOP incluyen dar a los estudiantes mochilas llenas de útiles escolares; dar a las familias de OMSD juguetes, juegos, ropa y ayuda monetaria, patrocinar el almuerzo anual para el Día de los jefes; Programa de diccionarios para estudiantes de 3º grado; y mucho más.

Los estudiantes, familias, y empleados de OMSD son afortunados de tener a OM-AEOP como socia en la educación y en la vida.
