On October 11th over 5,500 Ontario-Montclair students and staff took part in breaking a Guinness World Record for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24 hour period. Students from Berlyn, Buena Vista, Elderberry, El Camino, Haynes, Moreno, Vernon, Vineyard, and Wiltsey participated by doing jumping jacks for one full minute. Over 125 parents, community members, and college students volunteered to serve as recorders, timers, and witnesses in order to make the participants part of the official record.
This was a worldwide event. First Lady Michelle Obama kicked off the international “Let’s Jump” event in Washington D.C. Volunteers in all 50 states did jumping jacks, before the activity circled the globe, with people doing the same in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands, Ireland, Trinidad, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and more.
